How to find a journal article

From a topic (method shown in class)

  1. Go to Web of Science (link above)
  2. Under Timespan select "Last 5 Years"
  3. Enter your desired topic (e.g. ocean acidification)
  4. Sort your results by "Times Cited -- Highest to Lowest"

From a news article describing a research article

  1. Look for clues in the news article (authors, journal name)
  2. Go to Web of Science (link above)
  3. Enter the author's name in box and change drop down to "Author"
  4. Add another search box by clicking "Add Another Field"
  5. Enter the journal name in box and change drop down to "Publication Name"
  6. Search
  7. Look at abstracts and dates to make sure you found the correct article
